Thursday night I started having regular contractions. They were fairly strong and coming every 5 minutes. I decided to sit back, relax, take a bath and my contractions stopped.
I stayed up late cleaning and making sure I had my bags packed and ready to go. During the night, I was still having contractions off and on and was up about every 2 hours.
The next day my hubby went into work and I told everyone, including my parents, to be on stand by. I felt like Friday was going to be the day.
Friday afternoon my contractions started again, every 5 minutes, and I had my “bloody show.” I decided to tell my husband to come home and called my parents since they were the ones coming to babysit Natalie while we when to the hospital.
I got my things together, decided to take a shower, and by the time everyone got there, my contractions had STOPPED! Again! I felt bad for calling everyone there for a false alarm.
Since I knew I had lost my mucus plug, I decided to call the doctor and be checked in the office. At my 2 o’clock appointment I was already dilated to 5cm and 90% effaced.
I knew I was close to going into real labor and was already halfway there so we decided to plan to be induced on Saturday morning.
At my doctors appointment and especially after my cervix was checked, I was constantly having contractions. My mother-in-law decided to keep Natalie overnight that way we didn’t have to worry about it in the morning or in the middle of the night in case I went into labor on my own.
While waiting on her to arrive, my contractions become stronger and harder. I was to the point where I couldn’t stand or speak anymore. While trying to get Natalie ready to go, I didn’t realize how close my contractions were becoming.
We ended up leaving for the hospital at the same time Natalie and Grammie were leaving for her house. In the car my contractions were coming every 3 minutes and were VERY hard! I kept telling my husband to drive faster and of course we got stuck behind every granny driver in the world!
About halfway there, we lucked out by pulling up right next to a cop! We got his attention and asked him for a police escort. I’m sure he knew I was serious since I could barely sit in my seat and I had tears streaming down my face.
Once we got there my husband grabbed a wheelchair and took me inside. No one was at the front desk so we had to wait FOREVER on a nurse and then she tells me to sign-in! You’re kidding me, right! Paperwork! Now!?! Once she saw me she took me straight back and they got me a room. Then every nurse in the ward, literally, came in to assist.
When checked, I was told I was only 6cm and 100% effaced. THEN I found out I had to wait on bloodwork to come back before I could have an epidural!!! Which could take 30 minutes and they hadn’t even started it yet!
Finally I got my epidural which was nothing but heaven! And then I was able to get comfortable and notify some family members what was going on.
A little later they decided to break my water. She also tells me she going to give me pitocin!! WHY?!?! I’m progressing just fine! I told her I didn’t want it and she basically told me if I hadn’t progressed in an hour then she was going to give me some anyways. Which really ticked me off!
After she broke my water, my contractions started coming really hard and close together! My left side was extremely numb but I still had a lot of feeling in my right side and back! My contractions weren’t properly being picked up on the monitor so I called the nurse.
I was shaking uncontrollably and in having constant contractions. When the nurse still couldn’t get my contractions to pick up on the monitor, she decides to check me.
As soon as she does she says “OH, there she is!” and then the doc is called and things kick into action! I started pushing at 11:11pm and she was born at 11:17pm!
She started crying immediately, looked great, weighed 6lbs 7oz and was 21 inches long! We decided to name her Haley Annabelle! She is an amazing baby! Natalie was a very needy baby but so far Haley hardly ever cries! She sleeps great during the night however she is a gassy little thing.
Natalie loves her and gives her kisses constantly! She doesn’t seem to be jealous but wants to help with every little thing! Any time Haley cries, she comes running.
Congrats, she is beautiful! Looks like by that picture her big sister is already in love

And pushing for less than 10 minutes is awesome!! So glad she is an easy baby!! And she is soo cute!! You looks amazing in the pics!!
Hahahaha, I like how you typed “however she is a little gassy thing.”
You mean you didn’t get a gas mask as one of your shower gifts.
Poor thing. Ahh well, back when there weren’t electric clothes dryers, there were always clothes pins around that you could grab to put on your nose for such situations. Just kidding. She’s precious and your now bigger family looks great and happy.
Congratulations! Your little girl is lovely, and I like the name. We just had a kid that we named Haley, too!
