I recently had lunch with Bob Swoszowski, the owner/operator of 11 McDonald’s locations right here in North Georgia. With 40 years of experience (and a radiating personality) I can see why he’s so successful.

Bob purchased his first store with a partner in 1973 and has been striving to provide excellent service to consumers ever since! He said one of his favorite parts of his job is grading stores “white gloves and stopwatch style”. He makes unexpected visits to make sure each of his stores are providing quality food and prompt service. I had no idea they actually timed service or that each store can have up to 3 visits a month to check quality control.

It was really neat being able to see behind-the-scenes. I even learned the secret behind the oh so delicious McDonald’s Sweet Tea, but if I told you, I’d obviously have to kill you. 😉

I also found out McDonald’s is planning to bring back an old favorite this July – Mighty Wings! Which is one of Bob’s favorites, along with the new Quarter Pounder Burgers and the Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie which is the newest addition to the McCafé Smoothie line!

Stop by the sampling truck outside the McDonald’s store on Peachtree during the July 4th Peachtree Road Race for a free sample of the new Blueberry Pomegranate Smoothie.

I was surprised at how good the new Bacon Habanero Ranch Quarter Pounder was. I probably never would’ve ordered it because it sounds spicy, but it had the perfect amount of kick to it! I tried to snap you a picture before I devoured the whole thing.

It’s very clear that Bob Swoszowski is focused on education and he even has an Employee Scholarship Program! Every employee that works at least 20 hours per week gets a $500 scholarship per year and as long as they are actively enrolled in school, no matter what their grades, they will reimburse them for the cost of books!

Bob even said he doesn’t mind losing employees when they are moving on to bigger and better things. In fact, he encourages it and wants to help better our youth. Our youth is the key to our future! He’s a smart man!
