Ingredients:
- 1 cup half and half (or milk)
- 1/2 – 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 tablespoons sugar (or to taste)
- 1/2 cup salt
- pint or quart-sized freezer bag
- gallon-sized freezer bag
- ice cubes
Step 1:
In a pint or quart-sized freezer bag, add milk, sugar, and vanilla. Seal well.
Step 2:
In the gallon-sized bag, fill bag 1/4 full with ice cubes. Add rock or kosher salt.
Step 3:
Place the smaller bag inside the larger bag and seal. Shake well for at least 5 minutes.
Add your favorite toppings – chocolate chips, strawberries, bananas, etc

Works! BUT rinse off the inner bag completely before squeezing the ice cream out of it! Our ice cream had to be thrown out because it was soooooo salty! As we were squeezing it out, there was obviously salt water in the zip lock and while squeezing it out, the salt stuck to the ice cream, gross!
Haha yes I rinsed off the outside first. If your bag isn’t completely sealed, the salt water will leak inside too while you’re shaking it!
This is so fun to do with the kids! We like to have a dance party to do the shaking. 🙂
