DIY Vintage Camera T-Shirt Tutorial | Silhouette Portrait Giveaway!

I’ve had my Silhouette Cameo for exactly one year! And this was my first attempt at layering Heat Transfers with my Silhouette!

DIY Vintage Camera Shirt Tutorial

I’ve created stencils and used them to paint like I did with my Thanksgiving table runner but I was always a little scared of the iron on stuff! Especially layering multiple colors!

It turned about to be a fun and super simple project! Perfect for making personalized t-shirts with your name or business logo.Heat Transfer Supplies

  • T-shirt
  • Cardboard
  • Heat Transfer Material
  • Iron
  • Scrap Fabric
  • Silhouette cutting machine

First you need to create a design. I purchased this vintage camera camera form the Silhouette Store and added the text to the bottom.

I added the colors with the Fill Layer Window. It keeps things from getting confusing.

If you are using text or anything that isn’t completely symmetrical, you will need to mirror the image. To do this go to Object >Transform >Mirror Options.

I used a cutting mat and set the blade to 2. I increased the thickness to 28 since the generic settings for the Heat Transfer Material wasn’t quite thick enough. And finally my speed was around 8 but you will need to slow this down if you are using an intricate design.

Once you’ve cut your design, lay the Heat Transfer Material with the glossy side up. You will pull the plastic glossy backing off once you’ve ironed on the colored material.

To start, you will want to cover the design with a scrap piece of fabric depending on how hot your iron is. I did a little of both. I started with the fabric covering the design and touched up difficult areas with the tip of the iron directly.

Once the base was set, I started layering each color one at a time.

It will take a few minutes of heat before it will transfer. DO NOT leave the iron in one spot too long. If it doesn’t stick to the shirt when you start to remove the glossy backing, STOP pulling and iron it again.

  1. I love the monogramed pillows on the website. It would be cute to make some personalized pillows for my bed!

  2. Definitely consider that that you stated.
Your favourite justification appeared to be at the internet the simplest
thing to bear in mind of. I say to you, I certainly get irked at the same time as
other folks think about concerns that they just do not understand about.

You managed to hit the nail upon the top and also defined out the whole thing
with no need side effect , other people can take a signal.
Will likely be back to get more. Thank you
