My oldest daughter starts preschool in less than a week! I wanted to take the girls on one last summer fun trip before the school season begins, so I was thrilled to get tickets for my family to try out the LEGOLAND® Discovery Center in Atlanta.

The LEGOLAND® Discovery Center is in Phipps Plaza on the third floor of the mall across from AMC Theatre.

After you’ve gotten your tickets, you take a group tour through each stage of the creation process and learn how bricks are made in the LEGO® Factory.

Then you climb aboard your chariot and battle the trolls on the Kingdom Quest. It’s a short ride and a bit spooky for little ones but both of my girls thought it was fun. Each rider has their own laser gun and it keeps score with how many targets you hit. This was probably my favorite attraction. Of course, Daddy had the highest score!

After you exit the Kingdom Quest laser ride, you enter MINILAND®. Made from nearly 1.5 million LEGO® bricks, it’s a mini version of the Atlanta area buildings and parks.

Some of the mini buildings move or play music when you tap the buttons.

Every so often the lights change from daytime to nighttime and everything lights up.

Next you enter the main part of LEGOLAND with the rest of the attractions including:

  • LEGO® 4D Cinema
  • LEGO® Racers: Build & Test
  • Merlin’s Apprentice Ride
  • LEGO® Fire Academy
  • LEGO® Construction Site
  • LEGO® Master Builder Academy
  • The LEGOLAND® Discovery Center Shop
  • DUPLO® Village
  • Earthquake Tables
  • LEGO® Friends Olivia’s House

We spent a lot of time in DUPLO Village which is designed for kids under 5 years.

It has a small slide and DUPLO bricks which are soft and twice the size of standard LEGO bricks.

The girls helped daddy build a huge DUPLO brick house.

Then Natalie spotted Merlin’s Apprentice Ride…

You pedal to lift up off the ground and look out over the rest of LEGOLAND Discovery Center. Definitely a family favorite. We rode it twice.

Natalie attempted to sing karaoke at LEGO Friends Olivia’s House and found herself a LEGO mini-me.

I think the LEGO Racers- Build & Test area was my hubby’s favorite.

Natalie was deep in concentration perfecting her race car.

And Haley had fun racing the cars down the ramp and watching them explode (because I’m clearly not a very good race car builder).

We saved the LEGO® Fire Academy and Construction Site for last. It’s a huge jungle gym with obstacles, a swing, and climbing wall. Children must wear socks and people over 4.5ft tall aren’t allowed, including parents.

My girls had a great time! Before we even left the building, they were asking to come back!
