This is the first year we got to go to a Christmas tree farm and pick out our tree! Since we had another Thanksgiving on Sunday, we decided to wait until a weekday to go pick out our Christmas tree. And I’m so glad we did! We were practically the only people there!

The tree farm had a tractor ride to take to out the the tree fields, fire pit with marshmallows for roasting and even farm animals!

They also gave us a free ornament when we purchased our tree. And this personalized family ornament is also new this year from Personal Creations. You can add up to 6 family members and you will always remember which year you got it!

I was kind of looking forward to cutting down a tree but all the good trees had already been cut down.

But we still got to pick out the one we wanted from the selection they had left and I think my husband was secretly happy that he did have to cut it himself! The loading and unloading were hard enough!

I’ve been decorating all week and I still don’t have the tree finished yet! I did get my mantel completed though! I love all the colors! My husband tends to like the simple white lights and clean decorations and I’m completely opposite.

Growing up, we always had colorful lights on the tree and ugly handmade decorations from 20 years ago! Just like my mom, I keep everything! Lots of my mantel decorations were hand-me-downs giving to me by family.

This year I purchased some square clear glass bowls for $1  and added fresh flowers to them! I also bought some small Christmas balls so my girls could decorate their own mini Christmas tree. The tree and other decorations were given to us last year.

The super cute Christmas stockings are brand new this year and they are probably my favorite thing on the mantel! The stockings have blinking LED lights which don’t use much electricity and they don’t get hot!

Plus they are really wide so they hold a lot of gifts! I’m glad I got the deer stocking holders from RedEnvelope . The wooden and iron holders are adorable and hold up to three pounds!
