We were invited to check out Georgia Aquarium’s new Aquanaut Adventure: A Discovery Zone. I haven’t been to the Georgia Aquarium since it first opened in 2005. My girls have never been before so they were super excited!
Georgia Aquarium contains more than 10 million gallons of water and is the largest collection of aquatic animals. The mission of Georgia Aquarium is to be a premier scientific institution delivering an awe-inspiring entertainment experience which supports animal research and conservation.
Before we were led to our Aquanaut Adventure tour, we had a private area to watch the tanks and have refreshments. We got to see a group of divers and they waved to us. I think we could’ve stood there for hours!
The 45-minute Aquanaut Adventure experience allows guests of all ages to learn about aquatic life during an expedition through a variety of immersive environments. Each group is assigned an iPad which walks you through the adventure.
The goal of the Aquanaut Adventure gallery is to instill a sense of appreciation for the oceans, lakes and rivers of our planet and an understanding of the organisms that thrive there.
Each guest will be engaged in science, technology, engineering, or math (STEM)-related activities to provide a glimpse of the scientific process.
After we successfully completed the Aquanaut Adventure, we went to see the Dolphin Tales show.
The 30 minute dolphin show was one of our favorites! It incorporates the beauty and agility of dolphins and live human actors. The rain and lightning effects were amazing.
The first few rows of seats will get wet. We got there early and got seats on the second row. I didn’t realize how wet we could’ve gotten. Luckily we were on the end and didn’t get wet much at all. A few people in the first row towards the middle got completely drenched!
The show is narrated by the StarSpinner, a mysterious seafaring adventurer (pictured above) who leads the way through an interactive journey across the oceans and through an epic battle against villains of the ocean.
After the show, we had lunch in the cafe area. They had lots of great food to choose from. It was expensive but convenient.
We spent the rest of our day visiting the other exhibits. In the gift shop, Natalie picked a seahorse and Haley picked a sea turtle as her souvenir. They were so worn out, they slept the whole car ride home.
Next time we go back, I would love to do the Dolphin Encounters program where you get to meet, touch and feed the dolphins, or the dive program where you can swim with the whale sharks!

I have never been there so thanks for sharing! I wanted to visit while I was in Atlanta for the Mom 2.0 Summit last year but didn’t get a chance as the conference kept us so busy! Would love to visit someday even though I do not have children! 🙂
How cool! We haven’t been since it opened, that is a great addition to an already amazing place!
Seriously one of the coolest aquariums out there. I love the new discovery zone, perfect for kids

Your pictures are absolutely beautiful! I need to go there ASAP!
Wow I haven’t ever been but it looks absolutely incredible! I would love to visit one day looks like a wonderful time!
I like aquariums, but I try to research them first. I like the one in FL that the Dolphin movie was based on. They rehabilitate their animals and those who can’t be stay at the aquarium. I just have a hard time with animals being trained and stuff. Being in captivity. The whole Sea World issue is very real.
What a cool place. I would love to take my kids there, I am thinking they would love it.
My kids and I have been to the Georgia Aquarium many times and they love it. I definitely have to take them back to see this show.
