This year is the first year celebrating Father’s Day without my dad. He passed away on January 7th from Small Cell Lung Cancer. He was 66-years-old.
I’m grateful that we had a chance to capture these happy moments before he was hospitalized. I took these family pictures exactly three weeks before he died. It’s hard to believe he’s even sick in these photos.
In honor of my dad, I decided to get a Photo Locket Necklace for myself and a Photo Coffee Mug for my mom. I’ve gotten a ton of sweet comments about my necklace from people already.
I expected the locket to be larger when I first received it, but I think it’s actually the perfect size for a locket necklace. I like how the pendant swings to reveal the hidden photo, instead of having a clasp to close it.
Snapfish has regular coffee mugs and tall travel mugs which can be customized with patterns, photos, and other cute embellishments like hearts, special sayings, and phrases.
My mom and dad were always morning coffee drinkers. I got this coffee mug for my mom that says, “Enjoy the Little Things” – a daily reminder to enjoy life, even though Dad isn’t here with us anymore.
My dad always told my mom that she was stronger than she thought. She’s finally starting to realize that now.
This Father’s Day, please remember to honor your father (and grandfathers, too). One day he’ll be gone, and you’ll be wishing you could give him a gift as personal, inspirational, and imaginative as he is.

One of my favorite moments I get to spend with my dad is fishing with him. We sit on the bank of the pond that is out behind their house and just sit quietly.
Oh one of my favorite dad moments was growing up and on Christmas eve in the afternoon…he would take us shopping to pick out a gift for my mom. I loved all the hustle and bustle and Christmas spirit…was so memorable and fun!
I wish my dad could still be here with my mom 26 years since he passed.
As a chiId, I always enjoyed going to University of Houston Cougar basketball games with my father. I even had a cute red skirt and matching jacket that I wore.
I can’t imagine the pain you are going through with this! This picture are just precious! It looks like your dad was a fun guy! I am glad you got these pictures.
I’m so sorry for your loss. These firsts are always the hardest when we lose someone. I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts.
I am so sorry that you lost your dad. My kids lost their dad when my husband died of a heart attack 2 1/2 yrs ago and I hate that Father’s Day is sad for them. I still have my dad and they are very close to him. That does help. My dad is such a great one. He had 3 girls and we drove him crazy I am sure. We used to do his hair and make him be our patient when we were playing hospital.
I’m so sorry for your loss, I know first hand how hard it is after the death of a loved one. I love that you’ve turned you priceless photos into items that remind you just how special your dad was. I’d love to get a mug made for my mom of papa to remind her as well.
I can’t imagine losing my dad. He has always been the rock in my life. My favourite memory with him would be last year when we completed my basement together. It was a lot of work and we spend a ton of time together, but the laughs we had!!
My favorite memory was watching my dad hold my son for the first time. He was my dad’s first grandchild!
I’m so sorry for your loss. That’s a beautiful pendant, I love that you placed your parents’ photo in there. I love the mug, too. Both my parents are still with us and we show them every day that we love and appreciate them.
Oh so many favorite moments with my dad.. I was always Daddy’s Little Girl and as an adult, he was one of my best friends. He owned a hardware store when I was little.. I spent summers with him at the store. Christmas Shopping with him on Christmas Eve. Family game nights. He passed very unexpectedly 4.5 years ago and I miss him more every day.
One of my favorite Dad moments is going to the race track. My Dad showed me how to pick the ponies.
My dad is my greatest superhero. Sorry to hear about your loss. The photo is just heart-warming and lovely.
I am so sorry to hear about your father. I know what kind of heartache that is. The necklace and mug are amazing!
I’m sorry to hear about your father. That is a very beautiful locket too. I would love to get one of those of my father and I.
That is a beautiful locket. I would love to have a mug with a photo of my Dad and i on it.
The pictures you captured were absolutely perfect. So full of life! I love the idea of the locket and the picture looked fantastic on mug, too.

I’m so sorry to hear about the passing of your dad. I know how difficult this must be for you but love that he can be part of your day and with you whever you go.
I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your father. I always enjoy remembrance posts about good family men. I remember my grandfather on fathers day because my father was a very bad man which can make the holiday hard if I let it. I choose to remember good instead.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I don’t know what I’ll do without my dad. 🙁
Sending you lots of love on your first Father’s Day without your Dad. I love the way you are honoring him, lockets are so classic and dainty.
Okay girl, you had the tears rolling. The locket is so pretty, I didn’t know they had those! Hugs for you on Father’s Day…I know it might be a rough day. Try to remember all of the memories, that’s what we do for my husband’s father!
My heart goes out to you, I can’t imagine what it would be like without my dad in my life right now. I love how wonderful you were able to turn a loving moment into something that can last forever.
