Georgia Aquarium Then and Now

I took my girls to the Georgia Aquarium for the very first time in 2015. We have been many, many times since then, and we always find something new and exciting to do or see because they are always adding and updating exhibits and attractions.

I dreamed of SCUBA diving with whale sharks on our very first visit, and I still can’t believe I actually got to try the new Closed-Circuit Rebreather Dive in the Ocean Voyager tank. I always thought the people in there were employees.

You could dive all around the world and never see whale sharks that close up. Georgia Aquarium is the only aquarium in the Western Hemisphere where you can see a whale shark, and they have four of them in the Ocean Voyager exhibit. (more…)

GA Aquarium Behind The Seas Tour

We were invited to take a “Behind the Seas” tour at Georgia Aquarium. For $15 you can get an exclusive look backstage at some of the most popular exhibits!

We went on a Tuesday since my husband was off work, and it turned out to be the perfect day to go! It wasn’t overly crowded which is always nice.

The Behind the Seas tour begins on the second floor next to the 4-D Funbelievable Theater and will take you to multiple areas like the topside decks of Ocean Voyager and Tropical Diver.

The image above is the topside of the Tropical Diver. Those buckets dump 6,000 gallons of filtered water every 2 minutes to simulate waves crashing and help keep the tank clean! It was designed after a reef in Indonesia with a deep side and a shallow side for little guys like stingray pups. (more…)

Combo Ticket Discounts

If you are planning to visit Atlanta for Spring Break, I would definitely recommend the CityPASS. We did a CityPASS on our honeymoon in San Francisco. The very best attractions have been wrapped up in a ticket booklet that’s valid for 9 consecutive days starting with the first day of use, giving you plenty of time to make some memories during Spring Break!

Not planning on doing all five attractions? You can get the “Pandas & Penguins” discounted combo ticket to visit Georgia Aquarium and Zoo Atlanta or the “Mountains to Seas” Georgia Aquarium and Stone Mountain combo ticket.

For a limited time only, enjoy special online-only Early Bird Savings for every member of your family until 11am every day of the week! Select an entry time before to 11AM, print your tickets, and bypass the ticketing lines! Click to learn more about the special offers at Georgia Aquarium.

Hotel Packages

Although we are close enough to visit the city and drive home, Atlanta traffic can be crazy, and it’s worth it to stay in a hotel if you are doing multiple attractions. We stayed in Atlanta on New Years, and it was so convenient being able to run back to the room, especially with kids. (more…)

Summer Visit to Georgia Aquarium for World Ocean’s Month

June is World Ocean’s Month and there’s no better time to talk about the crucial importance of protecting our oceans right here in Atlanta. We were invited to Georgia Aquarium to check out the new and exciting additions for their 10th Anniversary Celebration. I decided to bring my mom along with us since she had never been to Georgia Aquarium before.

New Touch Pools

My girls have been to Georgia Aquarium once, but they’ve never touched a shark before. They loved the new 6,000-gallon touch pool located on the second floor at the end of Aquanaut Adventure. These new touch pools are designed to be accessible for visitors of all ages and physical abilities.

My mom didn’t want to touch the shark, even though they are small. However, she did touch a stingray for the first time in her life!

Before we were led to our Aquanaut Adventure tour, we had a private area to watch the tanks and have refreshments. We got to see a group of divers and they waved to us. I think we could’ve stood there for hours! (more…)
