You saw in my previous post what kind of dog we were looking for. We decided size and shedding isn’t a big factor anymore. Since the original house we planned on moving to fell through, based on our new living conditions, we decided to get an outdoor dog. Our main objective is to find a breed that is good with kids.
We don’t want a very small dog since it will need to be able to handle the heat and cold. And we don’t want a monstrous dog like a Mastiff because I don’t want to pay to feed the thing.
I love Beagles! And I read that Beagles adore children. I just worry about the barking. Boxer and Weimaraner are still in the running. And I would always be happy with a Labrador.
Vizsla’s sound like a good breed of dog. Vizsla, aka Hungarian Pointers, are elite sporting dogs and loyal companions and are know as great family dogs.
They are gentle mannered, affectionate, and has an above-average ability to take training. They have many talents such as tracking, retrieving, and pointing. They only bark when provoked. They have smooth, short-haired, hypoallergenic coats which are easy to keep and are average shedders. They are energetic medium-sized dogs that need plenty of exercise – which works great for us since we have a large fenced in back yard!
Does that not sound like the perfect dog for us?? Yes I know, well come to find out, we will need to pay a $250 pet deposit if we get a dog. Plus finding a Vizsla isn’t easy and we’ll probably have to pay a breed for one.
There’s no pet deposit for a cat. So I guess were getting a cat now! A friend of mine has 2 kittens she’s getting rid of. I think we’re getting the boy… pretty sure, as long as everything goes as planned with our house. We are supposed to move in this weekend and can get the kitten some time next week. Here’s a picture of him…
No thoughts on a name…. I’m terrible at that. However, trust me when I tell you – if you get a boy cat – make SURE you get him neutered before spring hits. You do NOT want him intact when all of those pretty females hit their heat. Your house will smell like one of those houses on Animal Hoarders… have you ever seen how high a male cat can spray up a wall?! Ew! That said, he is a cutie! I prefer cats to dogs- we have three… all females… they let us live here with them!
Kittens are the best! My baby Jeffrey is just as spoiled as my grandkids. Plus since I work all day I don’t feel too guilty leaving him alone since he is pretty self sufficient. He just sleeps until I get home and when he hears my car in the garage he meets me by the back door. (Only one 15 year old at home now and he doesn’t pay that much attention to me). You’ll love your little kitty and I’ve found that male cats (at least for me) pay a lot of attention to the girls.
Love the kitten! I’d call him Peaches but that’s kinda girly. I have a big fat old orange/white cat 🙂
I love cats & dogs, but cats are easier to care for, in my opinion, especially with kids! We have 3 cats, 2 boys, 1 girl – all fixed. Freckles, Capone & Bella.
When I saw that lil furball my first thought was “Mouser” that’s the only name my brain is giving him lol
He looks like a Sade to me. 🙂 Some of my other favorite cat names are…
Apolt, Apillar, Atonic, Amaran, Scan
(As in CATapolt, catapillar, and catatonic, catamaran, Cat-scan )
Or you could name him “dog” and then every time someone asks you can say “a dog cost too much, so we just got a cat and named him dog.”
*grin*
If you get the kitty in the photo above, I’d call him Chief Right Paw, because of the little orange mark that seems to come up from the right side of his nose onto the bottom of his right forehead. Yet, that mark might change alittle as he grows, so the name could be shortened to just Chief. Well that’s my thought on a boy kitty name.
How about Vizsla?
Mimi
i was like “whoa. i know her” haha!
