Starting a regular oral care routine at a young age is extremely important. Evidence shows that children are more at risk for issues, such as periodontal disease, due to lack of motivation to practice oral hygiene. Children who maintain good oral health habits up until the teen years are more likely to continue brushing and flossing than children who were not taught proper oral care.

It’s never to young to start! I started bushing both of my daughters teeth as soon as their teeth started to poke through the gums! Some even suggest brushing just the gums (even before teeth) to remove any formula from their mouth before bedtime.

Oral-B® Stage I is a starter tooth brush for ages 4-24 months. The tooth brush is designed to fit your hand at first and baby’s hand in time! The cushioned head helps protect tender gums and the soft bristles gently clean and massage your babies teeth and gums!

Oral-B® Stage II is designed for children 2-4 years old and comes in two character designs (Pooh & Tigger). Stage 2 has a lot of features of the Stage 1 brush but it also has a narrow head to helps clean hard-to-reach back teeth. And, one of my favorite features, the “Toothpaste Target” center colored bristles show you the recommended amount of toothpaste to use! The battery powered toothbrushes are also available at this age.

The Oral-B Stages Toddler Toothpaste is an anticavity fluoride toothpaste for kids. Children under 7 years old should only use a pea-sized amount. This is a good time to teach them how to properly brush and spit to reduce the amount of fluoride being swallowed. When the gaps between your child’s teeth close, it’s important to start flossing as well.

“Oral-B® Stages I & II, dentists’ #1 recommended toothbrush brand for children, not only has kid appeal but is specially designed to address children’s dentition, dexterity and development as they grow. Oral-B also offers kid-friendly Stages toothpaste to complement their brushing routine.”
