Last week, I had a Behind-the-Scenes Fresh Look at a Wendy’s restaurant here in Atlanta.
We got to see all the steps behind the salad preparation process and the produce involved in preparing “fresh-made” salads every day in each restaurant.
Consumers want to understand where their food comes from now more than ever, and when it comes to salads, there’s a big difference between “fresh-made” and “freshly assembled.”
EVERY DAY in every Wendy’s® restaurant, crew members chop fresh iceberg and romaine lettuce, cucumbers, red peppers and tomatoes.
We even got a chance to build our own salads with the help from Jenna Wlotzko, Wendy’s Culinary Expert. I chose the BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad, because it’s very high in protein and still low carb, which is allowed on my P90X diet.
Every salad entrée uses only premium white meat chicken breasts that are grilled and placed warm on your salad. Each salad is perfectly portioned so that every salad receives the same amount of toppings and chicken.
The Wendy’s Asian Cashew Chicken Salad, BBQ Ranch Chicken Salad, Apple Pecan Chicken Salad, Spicy Chicken Caesar Salad and the Garden Side Salad are offered year-round in half-size and full sizes.
The Strawberry Fields Chicken Salad is only available during strawberry season, beginning in June.
Check out the “Wendy’s Romaine Lettuce Journey” video below, which highlights the speedy story of a single head of romaine lettuce as it travels from farm to drive-thru.
The video was shot at a real Wendy’s location with real employees doing their daily fresh salad preparation with the use of creatively mounted cameras.
Wendy’s founder Dave Thomas opened the first Wendy’s restaurant in 1969 grounded on the premise that “Quality is our Recipe®.” For more than 45 years, Wendy’s has been invested in bringing customers the quality ingredients that differentiate us from others in the industry.
