I was invited to try a new concept McDonald’s is trying called “Create Your Taste.” It’s a new way for customers to build their burgers exactly how they want them.
Design your sandwich by following the steps on the touch-screen, located near the front counter. The building process is easy, but there is a person available to show you how to work the kiosk, if needed. It’s new so it looks intimidating at first, but if you can work a tablet or smartphone, then you can handle the “Create Your Taste” kiosk.
There are 22 different toppings to choose from, and options like Pepper Jack cheese and Spicy Mayo, which are NOT available on any other of McDonald’s regular menu items.
Follow the steps on the screen:
To begin, select Eat In OR Take Out? Then choose Pay at Counter OR Pay at Kiosk? McDonald’s also recently added the Apple Pay system, so you can conveniently pay with your smartphone.
There are 6 building steps:
1. 100% BEEF PATTY:
1/4lb Beef | 1/3lb Sirloin
2. ADD BACON:
Three Slices (additional cost)
3. PICK A BUN:
Artisan Roll | Ciabatta Roll | Premium Bun | Lettuce Wrap
4. ADD A CHEESE:
American | White American | Pepper Jack
5. TOP IT OFF:
Guacamole | Chili Lime Tortilla Strips | Pickle | Red Onions | Lettuce | Tomato | Jalapeno Slices | Grilled Onions | Grilled Mushrooms
6. SAUCE IT UP:
Mac Special Sauce | Mayo | 3 Peppercorn Sauce | Spicy Mayo | Sweet BBQ | Creamy Garlic Sauce | Mustard | Ketchup
The lettuce wrap is an awesome addition and a game changer for me. I’ve done a high protein, low carb diet many times in the past. I’m normally forced to eat a salad, since not many restaurants offer a burger without the bun.
And if you are a vegetarian, like my sister, you can easily order a veggie filled sandwich, without the meat!
I decided to try the Artisan Roll on my burger, mostly because I heard it was dipped in butter. And I think we can all agree that everything is better with butter!
Because of the customization, your “Create Your Taste” burger takes a little longer to prepare, usually five to eight minutes. But the seasoning and special sear on the burgers are worth the wait.
Other regular menu items are also available at the kiosks, so you can order a custom burger for yourself and Happy Meals for the kids.
The new “Create Your Taste” ordering kiosks are only available at certain locations, but they are preparing to expand to other locations.
I had lunch with my girlfriend, Brandi, and my daughter Haley. The atmosphere inside was more like a fancy restaurant and less like fast-food. You can tell McDonald’s is trying to appeal to the younger technology-filled, millennial generation who prefer the touch-screen ordering system.
Just in case you haven’t seen my “laughter” photo for this weeks Project 52, here it is again…
So many of you mentioned the delicious, gourmet-looking burger in my hand. I bet you never would’ve guessed that it came from McDonald’s.
Which McDonald’s toppings would you like to try on your custom burger?
This post was created in partnership with McDonald’s. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
There are no words for how much I Love this. I can’t wait to try it out 🙂
I’m a big fan of the classic lettuce and tomato combo. Of course, I’ll need ketchup, mustard, and mayo, too!
Creamy garlic sauce sounds good! I love these types of kiosks. They are really the easiest way to order.
This is awesome! I hope this comes here because this would be too fun to try out!
I’d add creamy garlic sauce and grilled onions. This looks like a cool way to order.
Your laughter pictures are amazing! I love the personalization in making your own burger!
I think this Create Your Taste ordering system is so cool! I would love to try a burger with a lettuce wrap sometime.
That’s a pretty awesome system. I’d definitely use it. I mostly eat vegetarian meals so it would be awesome to see some veggie options!
This sounds tasty! I hope our McDonald’s gets one of these!
What a fun and cool idea. What will they think of next?
This sounds neat. The lettuce wrap sounds good.
First of all I love your pics. I have eaten my burger the same way at McDees forever so I wouldn’t change but I do have it specially made- LOL I guess people didn’t realize you can have it the way you want. Although I may add a couple things
I’m sorry to say that I never eat McDonald’s, but these photos of you are simply adorable
I made the connection from your other post! McDonald did something very innovative this is super cool I would just try this out of curiosity!
The Jalepenos and artisian bun will be a must for my burger. I was in my local McDonalds and saw that Kiosk but didn’t know what it was used for . Will check it out next time.
Sounds like something a lot of people would enjoy. Something new and innovative. Creamy Garlic sauce sure sounds good on a burger!
I think machines like this are pretty cool. We were on a cruise and saw a similar one for coke products! I had a lot of fun with that all week 🙂
My kids freak when they have one of those machines with all of the soda options. They aren’t even big soda drinkers, but having all of the options is exciting. I can’t even imagine what they’d come up with at a custom burger station. I’d definitely be adding guacamole to mine.
Wow, I love the topping options you get with this new machine. I hope we get one in the McDonald’s here!! I’d probably go pretty plain, but my husband would try a number of these things on his burger.
This is so awesome!! I would want barbeque sauce. I love that on a burger!
I saw this in Europe last year. I think I’d try guacamole!
Oh my gosh, I haven’t seen these kiosks! Can’t wait till our McDonald’s gets one!! I’m not usually too willing to try new things with my McD’s but I would definitely try some Guacamole on a sandwich.
That’s a cool concept. It’ll be interesting to see how it all goes. Even ordering food is getting ‘smart.’ 🙂
I would love to try the create your taste. Sounds like a great reason to stop by McD’s.
That is so crazy! I mean only because I’m not used to anything like that. At least you’ll get exactly what you want.
