If you follow me on social media, then you know my dad passed away in January leaving my mom alone in a house that they had lived in for 38 years. Considering the circumstances, my mom is doing well. She has become more independent on her own, but having a home security system would give her that extra piece of mind.
My husband and I had just started researching home security cameras when Myfox kindly offered to send us a home alarm system with a security camera to test out.
Myfox a is leader in smart home security solutions and was the developer of one of the world’s first connected home security systems. Going beyond standard security measures, the Myfox Security Camera is the only home security camera with a privacy shutter, and the Myfox Home Alarm is the only smart home security system that catches the intruders BEFORE they enter your house!
The whole system was quick and easy to install. Creating an account can be done right on your phone. I placed the camera up high so I have a good view of the front door and foyer. I placed my alarm in a central area of my house so it can be heard all over the house.
There are 3 ways to set off the alarm:
1.) Home Intrusion Detected: someone opened the door
2.) Attempt to Enter: vibrations from a break-in attempt
3.) SOS Triggered by the Key Fob: manual panic button on your key chain
I was impressed at how quick it sends an alert to my phone. We tested it a bunch of times, trying to sneak past the alarm without setting it off. My phone (and my husband’s phone) receive instant notifications whenever the alarm is activated, when the alarm is armed, and when any settings are changed or the camera is unplugged.
FEATURES
- Set up in minutes from the Myfox Security app without any tools.
- IntelliTAG™ anti-intrusion sensor, preventing break-ins before they happen.
- Instant SMS, email and push notifications to your smart phone.
- Settings to adjust the sensitivity of the sensors from the app.
- Battery back-up & tamper protection alerts you if the system is disconnected or unplugged.
- Immediate temporary access to your cameras allows you to invite a trusted social network of friends and family to watch over your home when you’re away.
- Works with Nest, IFTTT, Open API.
The photo above is an actual shot of my front door. The wide angle of the camera lets me see the front door AND my office, where my precious iMac sits. The camera immediately begins to record as soon as any motion is detected.
The Myfox Home Alarm’s award-winning IntelliTAG™ sensor can detect the difference between ordinary events like knocking, and the vibrations of a break-in attempt to scare off intruders BEFORE they enter the home through advanced algorithms.
The Home Alarm only comes with one IntelliTAG™ which means you will need to purchase additional sensors ($50 each) for each and every door/window that you want to secure, or purchase the Comfort Pack for $399, which still only comes with 4 IntelliTAG™ sensors. For the cost, I think the standard Home Alarm should come with at least two sensors: one for the front door and one for the back door. If you have several doors and windows on the first floor, your cost is going to increase significantly.
I was sent the Myfox Home Alarm ($279) and the Myfox Security Camera ($179) – $458 value. If I wanted to add a sensor on EVERY access point of my home, I would need to purchase 12 MORE IntelliTAG™ sensors — a whopping $600. For total security, it would cost me $1,058, and that’s just for the downstairs.
Overall, I am happy with the system. It worked as expected. At first I thought it had a significant delay between the intrusion and the alarm sound, but I actually had it set on a 30 second delay, I just needed to make sure my IntelliTAG™ was set to “instant alarm.”
I’d like to see the cost of the Comfort Pack come down some so that you can secure more areas of your house for an affordable price. The app is glitchy sometimes, and the live camera video takes awhile to load, plus it does a lot of buffering which can be annoying.

This is so cool. We have a house alarm, but I have wanted a system like this for a long time now.
I don’t have a system now but we’ve actually been trying to find a good one to use since my husband works an off shift, I don’t like being home with my little one alone and love this!
No, we don’t, but we’ve been considering
We don’t currently have a security system. I’d like one for our house because my husband works at night so i’m home by myself with the kids. I love that this is quick and easy to set up!
I would love to win because I am home alone a lot and it would make me feel so safe! I do not currently have one!
I do have a security system but to be honest, it isn’t very user friendly and I get nervous when I go to use it. I’d love something like this!
I would love a security system.
It’s amazing how far technology has come, especially with home alarm systems. I really like that you can use cameras and check in on your home when you are away, or see if who is at your door before answering it.
I don’t leave the house often, but when I do, I want to make sure that everything I own is safe and that it won’t be stolen or anything like that. The same goes when it’s night time. This is definitely something that I’d love to try. Home security systems are very essential these days.
I’d feel very safe with this kind of security system. I really like all of the notifications it sends your device.
Great giveaway for someone, good luck everybody! Technology is amazing with all these new advances every year.
Would love to try this system out it looks amazing
This is a great giveaway! It is always good to secure ones home. Technology has come a long way over the years.
Wow! That is really great and amazing system. Glad they invented this! That would be helpful for sure.
We’re almost to the one year ‘anniversary’ since our house was broken into and robbed. Since then I have been obsessed with home security and these cameras bring so much peace of mind.
I do not have an alarm system. We really need one Because we have 2 pit bulls who greet everyone with a wagging tail & pet me attitude. My fur babies!
I would love to win for my parents who recently moved and do not have a security system in their home.
I would love to win this for my parents. They don’t have an alarm system and I think it would give them peace of mind.
Living alone can definitely change our security levels. I know a lot of women that live alone and I feel much safer knowing there is a security system in place. We have to look out for the ones we love.
We’ve talked about getting an alarm, but I didn’t want all that installation. This sounds like a great alternative.
OMG, jumping Jupiter . I don’t have a security system. Need one. . Thank you for the awesomeness, the contest, and generosity. 🙂
Having a security system in home is a great idea especially when you have so much important things in home.
First of all – this is amazing that you can offer this to one of your readers.. I hope I’m that lucky reader.
Second – We need a security system.. we don’t live in the best area- this would be a blessing in disguise,
I love the Instant SMS, email and push notifications feature!
Sounds like a very good security camera. I am going to enter the giveaway now!. Thanks!
