Today – July 6th – I turn 29 years old, my last year in my twenties! I decided to create a bucket list that I plan to complete within the next year – before I turn the big 3 0. Some items on the list are simple and some are much more challenging (and terrifying) to complete. However, I’m definitely not one to back down from a challenge.
I have always said I would go skydiving before I turned 30. I might even save it for last and go skydiving ON my 30th birthday. The first thing completed on my list will be traveling to another country! We’re leaving on a cruise to the caribbean in 3 days! I plan to take some underwater photos and maybe even go surfing or scuba diving while we’re there.
My dad died a few months ago and it made me realize how short life really is. If I live as long as my dad, my life could already be half over. Now that I’m older and in a good place in my life, I want to live life to the fullest.
Hope when you take that jump, you don’t fear the fall
Hope when the water rises, you built a wall
Hope when the crowd screams out, they’re screaming your name
Hope if everybody runs, you choose to stayHope when the moment comes, you’ll say…
I did it allI owned every second that this world could give
I saw so many places, the things that I did
With every broken bone, I swear I lived
OneRepublic frontman Ryan Tedder wrote that song for his four-year-old son. He said for every day that you’re on this earth, for every minute that you have, the whole idea is doing nothing less than exactly what you feel you’re supposed to do and squeezing every last drop out of life every day, regardless of the difficulties or trials that you face.
I love this list! I’m sure you’ll have no problem accomplishing all of it!
For the volunteering part of it — have you ever considered the Junior League? We live in the same town, and I’m in the League there. We’ve already had our new member recruitment for this year, but our year doesn’t actually start till the fall if you want to see if they would take you late. Or you can keep your eye out for recruitment next year. It’s a great organization for volunteering and giving back to the community!
Oh that sounds great! I will definitely check it out!
Love this bucket list! It’s inspired me to make one of my own. I never thought about it but my parents are gone too and if I were to go at the age they did I would be well over halfway there! Happy bucket listing!
I love that it has inspired you!! That’s always the goal! Squeeze every last drop out of life every day! 😉
This list looks super fun and has a lot of things I would like to do before I am 40. Good luck on completing them in the next year. I am sure you can do it all and will be happy when you have completed it.
Thanks Gwendolyn! You could do a 40 Before I’m 40 list!
What a great bucket list. Say yes to everything for a day. That could be an adventure. It is great to have a bucket list, but I am more of a look back and my experiences and be thankful kind of girl. I will be turning 45 later this year, and with watching my son get married, becoming a grandmother, and preparing my daughter for her senior year of college, I think I have a lot to be thankful for over the past few years.
Haha, I know right! My husband said he wants to know when I have agreed to say YES to everything for a day!
How long would you want to grow your hair and how long was the longest you have tried? This is a great list as it features various kinds of goals in life. Wow! You’ve been to so many states!
It has been pretty long before. I cut it off short about 8 months ago so it’s finally just starting to get long again. I’d like to grow it out to the middle of my back and then curl it into big beach waves.
This is such a great list of things to do before you’re 30. You’ll be creating loads of memories in the process, which is exactly what life is all about. Time goes by so fast, it’s best to make the most of it while we can.
That’s exactly why I’m doing it! No regrets! 🙂
I am quickly creeping up on 36 and I’ve only marked 12 of those items off my list. I wish I could travel more (I’m dying of wanderlust) but my financial situation says “no” for now. Maybe before I’m 40!
Yes, keep your options open!! At the beginning of the year, I seriously had no idea we would end up taking a trip to Disney World or a Caribbean cruise this year! All of the pieces just fell into place!
I applaud you for putting this together! I really should do something similar because I often need to push myself out of my comfort zone to experience new things! Good luck completing yours and Happy Birthday!
Yes, absolutely! Thank you!
I am so sorry to hear about your dad. A little jealous reading your bucket list though, as I am 31 and haven’t done half those things 🙂 I hope you are having fun making progress!
