We just got home from Myrtle Beach! It’s only about 6 hours from us and the drive is easy and relaxing. We were invited by Vacation Myrtle Beach property group to try out one of their 14 oceanfront properties.
I chose the Captain’s Quarters Resort specifically for the lazy river and Shipwreck Lagoon Kids’ Waterpark. We stayed in an Angle Oceanfront Suite (room 546) which has a small kitchen and separate room and tv for the kids. I loved that we had a view of the pools and the ocean!
For breakfast we headed to Johnny D’s Waffles and Bakery! It’s no surprise that they are rated #1 on TripAdvisor! Definitely a must try if you’re ever in Myrtle Beach. Chef Jamie Saunders invited us to come try it out and we were all blown away! I need this place to become a franchise so they can build one right beside my house asap.
Johnny D’s serves omelettes, waffles, pancakes, French toast, benedicts, skillets, pastries, bagels, and biscuits. They even have breakfast margaritas! If you’re anywhere in the area definitely go check them out! Drive out of your way if you need to! Seriously! You won’t regret it!
After breakfast we spent the day soaking up the sun and swimming at the resort. We ended up getting some rain on our second day so we were thrilled to have the indoor pools and a 232-foot lazy river.
We also decided to check out the Level 6 Entertainment Center. We played some arcade games and tried the 20-lane bowling alley. All guests receive one free game of bowling each day of their stay. My husband beat us at bowling AND air hockey.
We spent a little time playing in the ocean, but the girls said their favorite part was swimming at the resort by far. There were 15 different pools, hot tubs, and lazy rivers to choose from!
For dinner we tried out Loco Gecko which is Captain’s Quarters Resort’s seasonal restaurant that offers burgers, wings, seafood baskets, appetizers, pizza and a kids menu for the little ones. My girls loved their Salty the Shark cups that even came with a shark tooth necklace!
Spring and Fall are the best times to visit Myrtle Beach. Right now get 30% off regular room rates at the Captain’s Quarters Resort. Visit http://www.captainsquarters.com/specials/ for more info.
Myrtle Beach sounds amazing, especially Captain’s Quarters Resort! It looks like your little one enjoyed her waffle, but who wouldn’t! Mounds of bananas, ice cream and whip cream…YUM! I love finding a hotel or resort, that has so many options as Captain’s Quarters Resort.
This looks like a great vacation spot! I’ve never been to Myrtle Beach before. My kids would absolutely love the pool and lazy river! I would personally love the banana split (minus the waffle since I’m allergic to it)! Everything looks wonderful!
Allergic to waffles?! You poor thing!!
What a fun place to enjoy the last few days of summer with the family. I wish we had a resort like this near us. I know my kids would have a great time! Great pictures too!!
That looks like a fun place for the whole family to have a good time. We have recently went away for our vacation but I am thinking we already need another one. This looks like a great vacation idea for all of us!
Yay so fun! We had a big family vacation to Myrtle Beach last summer. It was great. We VRBO’d a house 2 minutes from the beach. This hotel looks great though, pool for the win! Perhaps next time we can stay there.
A lazy river? Count me in. Seriously anywhere I went this summer that had one was a place I loved. Something about just relaxing as the water moves you around was perfect.
Oh, this looks like so much fun. My family would enjoy visiting Myrtle Beach. However, the banana split waffle would be way too much sugar for me!
I just went there last weekend. I was very upset to find cockroaches in our room. I called the frot desk and she was quick to say they wernt roaches. I even took a picture. As we were leaving and packing up, I opened a drawer and one came out and started crawling up the wall. This time I video taped it. I then called the front desk 2 times. No answer, then we just left. I was so grossed out by this.
Oh no! I’m curious what floor you were on? We were on the 5th floor. I didn’t see any bugs and the staff was up early every morning cleaning, but I definitely thought the resort could use some updating. The room itself was nice, but the hallways and doors needed to be repainted.
You all clearly had such a great time and Amy are quite the photographer! You’ve got some skills. My kids love the beach and the water parks so this looks like a place we need to visit. we usually travel out of the US for our family vacations but you’re opening my eyes to places within the US that we can visit as well.
Thank you so much for the wonderful post about us. We are super excited to be included. You are welcomed back anytime 🙂 – Chef Jamie Saunders
