If you follow me on social media, then you know my dad passed away in January leaving my mom alone in a house that they had lived in for 38 years. Considering the circumstances, my mom is doing well. She has become more independent on her own, but having a home security system would give her that extra piece of mind.
My husband and I had just started researching home security cameras when Myfox kindly offered to send us a home alarm system with a security camera to test out.
Myfox a is leader in smart home security solutions and was the developer of one of the world’s first connected home security systems. Going beyond standard security measures, the Myfox Security Camera is the only home security camera with a privacy shutter, and the Myfox Home Alarm is the only smart home security system that catches the intruders BEFORE they enter your house!
The whole system was quick and easy to install. Creating an account can be done right on your phone. I placed the camera up high so I have a good view of the front door and foyer. I placed my alarm in a central area of my house so it can be heard all over the house.
There are 3 ways to set off the alarm:
1.) Home Intrusion Detected: someone opened the door
2.) Attempt to Enter: vibrations from a break-in attempt
3.) SOS Triggered by the Key Fob: manual panic button on your key chain
I was impressed at how quick it sends an alert to my phone. We tested it a bunch of times, trying to sneak past the alarm without setting it off. My phone (and my husband’s phone) receive instant notifications whenever the alarm is activated, when the alarm is armed, and when any settings are changed or the camera is unplugged.
FEATURES
- Set up in minutes from the Myfox Security app without any tools.
- IntelliTAG™ anti-intrusion sensor, preventing break-ins before they happen.
- Instant SMS, email and push notifications to your smart phone.
- Settings to adjust the sensitivity of the sensors from the app.
- Battery back-up & tamper protection alerts you if the system is disconnected or unplugged.
- Immediate temporary access to your cameras allows you to invite a trusted social network of friends and family to watch over your home when you’re away.
- Works with Nest, IFTTT, Open API.
The photo above is an actual shot of my front door. The wide angle of the camera lets me see the front door AND my office, where my precious iMac sits. The camera immediately begins to record as soon as any motion is detected.
The Myfox Home Alarm’s award-winning IntelliTAG™ sensor can detect the difference between ordinary events like knocking, and the vibrations of a break-in attempt to scare off intruders BEFORE they enter the home through advanced algorithms.
The Home Alarm only comes with one IntelliTAG™ which means you will need to purchase additional sensors ($50 each) for each and every door/window that you want to secure, or purchase the Comfort Pack for $399, which still only comes with 4 IntelliTAG™ sensors. For the cost, I think the standard Home Alarm should come with at least two sensors: one for the front door and one for the back door. If you have several doors and windows on the first floor, your cost is going to increase significantly.
I was sent the Myfox Home Alarm ($279) and the Myfox Security Camera ($179) – $458 value. If I wanted to add a sensor on EVERY access point of my home, I would need to purchase 12 MORE IntelliTAG™ sensors — a whopping $600. For total security, it would cost me $1,058, and that’s just for the downstairs.
Overall, I am happy with the system. It worked as expected. At first I thought it had a significant delay between the intrusion and the alarm sound, but I actually had it set on a 30 second delay, I just needed to make sure my IntelliTAG™ was set to “instant alarm.”
I’d like to see the cost of the Comfort Pack come down some so that you can secure more areas of your house for an affordable price. The app is glitchy sometimes, and the live camera video takes awhile to load, plus it does a lot of buffering which can be annoying.

We have a security system that is similar and I love it! I need another one for the back door – so this would be great!
I’d like to win a security cam because we currently don’t have security. I live in an apt on the first floor and I’d feel a lot safer if I were able to monitor my front or back door.
Myfox is pretty new for me, but sounds like a wonderful brand with high quality home security products. Both the Security Camera & Alarm looks great & I love that it is easy to install. The info-graphic is quiet good enough to explain the features easily.
This sounds like a great product! Even with the slight delay in video streaming, I can see it being a good investment. I love how sleek it looks too, very modern!
Looks like a neat system although I can see it would get quite expensive when put on all doors and windows in a house.
We don’t currently have a home security system. I would love to win so we can keep an eye on things when we aren’t there.
I do not have a home security system, and I need one really bad. I need to feel more secure and know what is going on when I am at home by myself with the kids!
We dont. I would love to win for security! Our home was broken into 3 years ago and its never been the same here. I love how their are 3 ways to set the alarm off.
We do not have one I like that it’s reliable and high quality. We don’t have one because it’s alot of money for us right now
When we got the house it has a home security system, this was important when we moved there. But It never worked right so we had to un-install it. I would love one just knowing my family & pets are safe at night or when were not home.
I would love for my daughter and her two boys to have a system in their home. the boys are 2 to 5 and the times are today I feel she needs to be more secure in her home. It is known we would be more secure for her if she had a system
we do not have a security system and my daughter has been wanting to stay at home alone now so it would be great to have one
I currently don’t have any home security, but would really like to have some.
We do NOT have a security system but I have wanted one for a while. I know I would feel safer when I am home alone.
I currently don’t have a system but would truly love one
with so many thieves around my area this would benefit my world right now. I love all the features and the monitoring or continuous video recording would be great!
I don’t have one. I want to win because of that!
We have a motion sensor that alarms us. Other than that no.
I Don’t Currently Have A Security System, It Would Make Me Feel More Safe It I Did.
I don’t have a security system but I would feel better if I did.
I do not have a security system too protect our home. I like the Battery back-up & tamper protection and the wide angle view.
I would love to have this because we are moving to the country. And we would need it.
I like the remote control for the key chain
I would love to have a security system. My dog is getting old and as a kid our home was broken into 2x while we were sleeping. I do not feel safe with out some kind of protection.
We don’t really have a security system right now. We do keep a camera in the living room, but it is mostly just for keeping an eye on the dogs while we are gone. I love that this sends alerts to your phone when sensors are triggered.
