We just got back from a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas after visiting the Magic Kingdom and experiencing Pandora at Walt Disney World in Florida.
We left straight from Disney World to set sail on the Disney Dream to Nassau and to Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay (pronounced Castaway KEY).
We were provided with a Castaway Cay Getaway Package as part of the Disney Social Media Moms celebration. This 3-in-1 rental deal for ages 5 and up, includes snorkel equipment for the day, an inner-tube rental for the day, and a bicycle rental for one hour.
After picking up our snorkel gear from the hut pictured above, we headed straight into the water!
We went in February and although the weather was gorgeous and perfect for lounging on the beach, the water was still very cold.
There isn’t much to see at first. The water is shallow and the stirred up sand makes the water look cloudy. Keeping going though!
The 20-acre snorkel lagoon is HUGE and full of underwater surprises! It does get deeper as you go, but it’s not really any deeper than a swimming pool would be.
I’m not going to show you everything we found underwater because I want it to be a surprise if you go.
But there sooo many things to find and they have markers in the water to help you find all of them.
Castaway Cay was amazing! I love that the food is included on the island, the waterslides are a blast, beautiful white sand with plenty of chairs with umbrellas, but snorkeling was by far my most favorite experience.
If you are planned a Disney Cruise, don’t forget to print out your free Mickey Mouse Door Magnet decoration for your stateroom door.
Check out this short video of our snorkel experience at Castaway Cay!
Castaway Cay is just about the most fun you can have as a family! We loved it there. There’s so much do to. Snorkeling is just the beginning.
That looks like it was an amazing trip! I have never been on a Disney cruise and I’ve always wanted to go. I would love to check out the island because I am sure that Disney has it very decked out!
Oh now this sounds like such a fun experience, I used to love snorkeling when I was younger and remember doing so at Disney in my teens but I couldn’t tell you where.
I have never been snorkeling before, but I am hoping to on my next trip. This adventure looks fabulous! Your girls look like they had a fabulous time and I love that they found mickey!
What a fun place to visit!! I love the underwater sunken ship feature! How cool!
What a wonderful experience! A couple of friends made it to Castaway Cay earlier this month. Their families had a great time. Would love to take the boys sometime.
I appreciate that you did not show everything as to not ruin the surprises for others!
Castaway Cay looks to be the perfect family vacation spot!
Sorry the water was a bit cold but glad you all still had a wonderfull time!
I’m so jealous! This looks way too cool and a ton of fun to do!
What I FUN trip! I would love to take a Disney cruise and snorkel on Castaway Cay!!
I have never been there but it sure sounds like a lot of fun! I love the idea of snorkeling.
Oh my gosh! How fun would this be! I’ve been snorkeling in Xtapa before. I’d love to share that experience with my kids and this would be the perfect way! I love it!
This is a place I’ve always wanted to go! I know that my girls would have a blast. Hopefully soon!
We love snorkelling. This space looks amazing. I would love to visit with the kids. We cruise every year but have yet to do the Disney cruise. I think it’s a bit expensive still. But this makes me think I’d love to recheck that to see if we could swing it. We often do things like this when we cruise. It’s a great way to explore and try a new adventure too!
It must have been a thrilling experience to see those things that you saw underwater. I have never tried snorkeling. It would be a fun experience to do with the family, I bet.
We’re not planning on going back to Disney for a couple more years – so this would be perfect then! That way everyone can enjoy this
Oh my goodness, this looks like such a blast! I really want to go, I love the water.
What a fun and great experience you had. Looks like a great place to visit. I’ll definitely go here one day with my family.
This sounds like such a fun experience for kiddos. I know I loved all things Disney as a kid.
I’ve heard amazing things about the Disney cruises! Looks like you and your little ones had an amazing time!
How fun it must be to find Mickey under water! I’m sure those girls had loads of fun. Disney is the best!
